Soft start controls and solid state starters can be used to start
multiple motors in parallel provided the motors are mechanically connected to the same
load. For successful application, the following must be observed:
- Motors must be the same HP, NEMA design, RPM, frame and voltage
rating, and preferably from the same manufacturer.
- Each motor must have its own thermal overload relay and branch
circuit protection.
- The total FLA of the motors should not exceed the FLA rating of the
soft start control or solid state starter.
