Yaskawa has been in business for almost a century, with operations in North America since 1967; although, the Yaskawa
name has not always been as recognizable with respect to AC Drives. The reason lies in Yaskawa's original approach to the North
American market. Here, Yaskawa chose to go into market with "Partners/Brand Labelers" who would market, sell and support
Yaskawa's AC Drives under their individual brand labels.
Yaskawa, in turn, would focus on manufacturing, quality control and research and development of their Drive products, while working with and supplying products to "Partners/Brand Labelers". These "Partners/Brand Labelers" consisted of MagneTek, Saftronics, Omron IDM Controls and EMS.
In January of 2001, Yaskawa purchased the Drives Group of MagneTek and began promoting Yaskawa products under the Yaskawa name. Yaskawa's acquisition of the MagneTek Drives Group was a complete acquisition, in that the employees and location of MagneTek in New Berlin, WI remained the same as only the name changed.
By late 2004, Yaskawa had reclaimed its name with Saftronics and Omron IDM, and have since marketed solely under the Yaskawa name in North America. There are well over one million Yaskawa drives in operation today in North America alone.

every industry in need of robotic applications.
Yaskawa America, Inc. provides Industrial Control and Automation products to markets in North America. In addition, Yaskawa
is the world's largest manufacturer of AC drives and motion control products, including adjustable frequency drives, servo
amplifiers, servomotors, machine controllers, and motion controllers.
Their drives cover every automation application need in the industrial plant. These AC drives incorporate the latest technological advancements in AC motor speed control, made possible by experience and dedication to quality in design and manufacturing. These adjustable frequency drives offer the greatest selection of size and performance available, with power ranges from fractional HP to 1750 HP. Yaskawa AC Drives provide the benefits of network communications, support by software tools for parameter management, custom software options, and new ease of installation. Because all adjustable frequency drives are rigorously tested, Yaskawa ensures that quality and reliability are designed in and built in.
Yaskawa's broad product range of servo systems includes brushless AC servo motors, digital amplifiers, linear motors, and direct drive motors. These best-in-class servo systems can be matched with single-axis or multi-axis motion controllers for a system solution with the best quality and reliability in the business.
Yaskawa is the largest global variable frequency drives manufacturer with over 30 years of Building Automation System (BAS) and HVAC experience. Our variable frequency drives are designed for HVAC applications, which include air handlers, cooling towers and pumps, by combining reduced size and cost with step changes in performance and quality. The drive features for Building Automation Systems include extensive parameter selection which simplifies management of BAS applications for energy efficiency and closed loop control, industry-standard Hand/Off/Auto functionality, an internal PI controller and a Sleep function.
Yaskawa Motoman Robotics Division delivers innovative robotic automation solutions for virtually every industry and robotic application, including arc welding, assembly, clean room, coating, dispensing, material cutting (laser, plasma, waterjet), material handling (diecast, machine loading, packaging, palletizing, part transfer, press tending), material removal (deburring, polishing, sanding) and spot welding.
Other major areas of Yaskawa's product line include iQPump controllers, iQrise Elevator Drives, Escalator Drives, Spindle Drives and Low voltage Industrial Control.
