Regulators
A regulator is a device designed to automatically maintain an operating characteristic. Regulators monitor a set characteristic, measure the operating characteristic against the set value, and maintain operation at, or within range, of the desired value.

In pump and flow control applications, regulators are commonly designed to measure and control pressure. Pneumatic and hydraulic regulators are used for air pressure and liquid pressure, respectively.

As the regulator monitors fluid pressure in the system, an actuator opens or closes valves to increase or decrease internal pressure. The regular can also measure flow rate and ambient, and account for both when adjusting system pressure.
