Strut
Strut
A strut is a structural component designed to resist compression and provide outward support in their lengthwise direction. Struts are commonly found in engineering, construction, plumbing and architecture applications.

Struts can be made of any material that resists compression lengthwise. Wood is common in home construction, for example. Commercial and industrial applications generally use struts made from steel or aluminum.

Beyond providing structural integrity, struts can be channeled to support interior loads like cables, wires and piping.
