Fasteners
Fasteners are a subtype of hardware used to join two or more pieces of equipment or solid material. They are often removable should the joined equipment need to be disassembled for maintenance, repair, or replacement.
The most common fasteners are bolts and screws. Screws thread directly into the joined substrates. They may fasten a pre-threaded hole, or self-thread the fastened material. Bolts pass through the material and take a nut on the other side. The fastening is done by applying torque to the nut.
Other fasteners include anchors and staples. Washers are used to distribute the load of a torqued fastener.
