Control Relays
A control relay is an electrically operated switch, typically used where it is necessary to control a circuit with a separate low-power signal or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal.

Modern control systems use solid state relays to control power circuits, which use semiconductors to perform switching instead of electromagnet, mechanical operation. Modern control relays are also typically equipped with several operating characteristics, including monitoring phase, current, voltage, and temperature; and controlling circuits based on time or logic.

Control relays often serve in general purpose roles and are useful in a wide variety of applications, including lighting controls, time delay controls, industrial machining, motor starting, machine tool control, and as protective devices.
