The PST Series Soft starter is the most advanced microprocessor-based soft starter offered by ABB.
It is packed with almost every feature imaginable, making it ideal for almost every application.
ABB's torque control function is developed in unison with pump manufacturers to ensure the best pump stop possible,
thus eliminating problems with water hammering and pressure surges.
The PST Series Soft starters are equipped with almost all protections imaginable for protecting the motor,
the soft starter, and the application. The analog output terminals can be connected to an analog current meter to show the current during operation, eliminating the need for an additional current transformer.
The analog output signal can also be used as an analog input to a PLC. With the ABB FieldBusPlug, all of the most common fieldbus protocols are supported. With the PLC system it is possible to setup the soft starter, read status information and also control the soft starter itself.
PST Soft Starter Components
The PST Series Soft starter comes equipped with a full text display showing all information in clear text. There are standard settings for many common applications, such as centrifugal pumps, allowing for easier setup. There is also an optional external keypad for easy setup and for monitoring the unit without opening the enclosure door. The keypad can also be used to copy parameters between different soft starters. The PST Series can be selected according to the rated motor power required ranging from normal duty applications such as pumps, compressors, elevators, escalators, short conveyor belts and bow thrusters, to heavy duty applications such as centrifugal fans, crushers, mixers, mills, stirrers and long conveyor belts.
