Profibus-PA Series Information
PROFIBUS (Process Field Bus) is a standard for field bus communication in automation technology. The PROFIBUS protocol has application specific profiles to meet differing factory floor requirements. There are two variations of PROFIBUS in use today; the most commonly used PROFIBUS DP (See Section‑N), and the lesser used, application specific, PROFIBUS PA. Profibus‑PA is optimized for process automation to monitor measuring equipment via a process control system in process automation applications.
