Test & Measurement

Test and measurement equipment measure, detect and record values and conditions for machinery, equipment and work environments. These devices are often handheld, with straightforward operating characteristics and the durability needed to work in the field.

The primary electronics testing device is the digital multimeter (DMM), a test tool used to measure electrical values. The basic requirement of the multimeter is the ability to test voltage, current and resistance, but many modern digital multimeters offer greater functionality.

Standalone meters can measure any one variable at a time, sacrificing flexibility for lower costs. These include resistance meters, volt meters or volt pens, and more specific measurement devices like phase rotation testers, anemometers, distance meters and more. In many cases, improved technology, much of this equipment can provide non-contact measurements and even connect to smartphones or PCs to save data and transmit results over local networks.
