A lamp tester is a handheld test device built to troubleshoot HID and fluorescent lamps.
Lamp testers feature 3-in-1 operation to test light bulbs, bulb pins, and the presence of voltage in a lamp application. Non-contact testers can confirm continuity without removing a fluorescent lamp from its ballast. Testers will also have the means to accept the lamp pins to test the lamp before installation. Typically, testers can accommodate T2, T4, T5, T8, T9, T10 and T12 fluorescent bulbs.
Lamp testers can be supplemented with a fully retractable antenna, so the operator can test a bulb without a ladder, or if the bulb is in a hard-to-reach location.
